Weddings with a Happier Price

Kelley’s Tips to Save on Your Wedding Without Compromising the Look or Experience

  1. Spend where guests will feel it most.
Food costs add up quickly, but you do not always need a plated dinner to make the meal feel special. A buffet or food station can still feel elevated, keep guests well fed, and potentially save thousands.
  2. Go digital where it makes sense.
Printed invitations are beautiful, but they can become expensive once you include design, envelopes, RSVP cards and postage. A hybrid approach can work well: printed invites for close family or VIPs, and digital RSVPs for the larger guest list.
  3. Mix real and faux florals strategically.
Use real flowers in high-touch areas where guests will see them up close, like the head table or bouquet, and consider faux florals, greenery, candles or bud vases for centrepieces or background decor. You can still create a beautiful aesthetic while reducing costs.
  4. Know your boundaries before the wedding industry sets them for you.
Start with your real budget, clarify who is contributing and whether expectations are attached, and remember that DIY is not always free once you factor in time, stress and supplies. Your wedding should reflect your values, not just what the industry says you need.
